We make recovery possible so that those who struggle with addiction can go on to lead productive and meaningful lives. We provide medication assisted treatment in conjunction with therapy, case management, and monitoring to improve the functioning and well-being of our patients. Our approach is evidence-based and we ensure that treatment is financially accessible to all who need it.
At Project Reality, non-medication strategies are widely implemented so that the patients receive more than medications to reduce cravings and relapse. We provide outpatient comprehensive care for individuals whose lives are unmanageable due to addiction. This includes mental/emotional, behavioral, environmental, occupational/financial, physical, spiritual, and social interventions. The services and personnel needed to address the whole person are much more costly than the medications. As a non-profit, we rely on grants, public funding, and community partnerships to ensure continuity for our patients and break down barriers traditionally present in for-profit settings.
When used properly for opioid addiction, methadone stops withdrawal symptoms so the individual can focus on their journey of recovery.
Methadone blocks the opioid receptors so patients can control cravings and avoid relapse. It's administered in highly regulated doses that can gradually be weaned as the patient learns new ways of regulating thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. When methadone is used properly, it does not cause a high or sedation.
Addiction is a chronic brain disease that affects your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Medicines like methadone and buprenorphine do not "cure" the disease but help the brain heal so that you can make changes in your life that improve how you feel and function.
Project Reality directly addresses these behaviors in a therapeutic setting that works closely with our medical staff to provide our patients the best opportunity for recovery.
How much medicine a person needs depends on how stable they are. As their life becomes more manageable they may do well on a lower dose and move toward tapering off the medication.
In addition to the powerful transformations our staff see everyday, our organization collects and analyzes patient data to measure the success of our program. We view success as being able to maintain a productive and meaningful life while maintaining a sober lifestyle.
Measuring our patients' ability to obtain stable housing and employment as well as connect with primary healthcare services, help to illustrate stories of stability and productivity.
Stability attained through MAT additionally has a tremendous impacts on the community by reducing social costs. Our data shows patients have a significant decrease in police involvement and ambulance/ER usage after several months in our program.
We are dedicated to making sure everyone has access to treatment regardless of insurance status. We utilize public funding when available to assist in cost of services. We prioritize funding for those who have been attending therapy and are abstinent and women who are pregnant.
Project Reality does not deny services based on the inability to pay. We utilize a sliding scale based on federal poverty guidelines to establish a reasonable co-pay structure for individuals with the ability to pay.
